Ja, habe XP und Arch auf der selben Platte.

Dann werde ich deinen Tipp als erstes mal ausprobieren.

EDIT: Kurze Frage des Unwissens: smartctl ist doch ein Teil der smartmontools oder?

Mit "pre-fail" will dir smart sagen das die Platte demnächst ausfallen könnte.

Da fällt mir ein ich hatte auch mal ein ähnliches Problem bevor ich Arch genutzt hab. Auch ein Dualboot mit (Ubuntu und Win7). Der Stürzte öftermal ab. Ich hab alles mögliche getestet, dachte auch zwischendurch das die CPU zu heiß wird, weil ich meist bei CPU-lastigen arbeiten kam (war aber nie heißer als 64°C). Konnte ne Weile nicht wirklich nachvollziehen was es war.

Letztlich scheint es am cpufreq gelegen zu haben. Unter ubuntu lief der auf ondemand und unter M$ vermutlich ähnlich...Ich hab ihn dann immer auf performance gestellt wenn ich was machen wollte das ihn mehr ausreizen könnte.

Mit dem Wechsel zu Arch bin ich auch wieder zu winxp (weil da diese Abstürze nicht waren). cpufreq ist jetzt auf conservative, weil ich irgendwo las das er langsamer regelt. Bis jetzt keine Probs mehr. Ich vermute das irgendwelche hohen Lastwechsel im normalen governour irgendwelche Bauteile zu sehr beanspruchen.

Edit: Meine Festplatte ist übrigens auch sehr alt und smart vermeldet auch mehrere nicht freundliche Einträge.

Du kannst natürlich mal das Tool vom Festplattenhersteller rüberlaufen lassen. Ist für mich immer eine verlässliche Aussage ob alles in Ordnung ist.

Mach mal "smartctl -a /dev/sda". Also ein kleines a.
Dann Bekommst du eine unter dieser Tabelle einen ErrorLog mit den Letzten 5 Fehlern, die beim Schreiben oder Lesen entstanden sind. Die Ausgabe ist etwas größer, also musst etwas Scrollen. Bei mir siehts so aus:

Bei meiner lezten Platte wars so, dass sie, nachdem die ersten Fehler entstanden sind, ziemlich schnell den Geist aufgegeben hat. Konnte aber das meiste mit dd retten 🙂

Wollte mir dämnächst mal neue Platten zulegen und nen Raid machen. Aber im Moment läuft sie ja noch und es gibt ja auch noch keine Konkreten anzeichen, dass sie ausfällt. Habe auch noch eine sehr viel ältere Platte drin, bei der sind die Werte auch alle im Grünen Bereich. 🙂

Die RAW-Werte da sind ungesund und deuten imho alle auf eine kaputte Oberfläche der Festplatte hin.

Mh, dann werde ich mir wohl eine neue Festplatte zu legen und dann damit ausprobieren was passiert. Rausgeschmissen Geld ist es ja nicht, Speicher kann man nie genug haben ^^

Solche SMART Auswertungen sind für Statistiken ganz interessant aber so wirklich zuverlässig sind sie nicht. Würde da eher den Speicher intensiv testen wie Greg empfohlen hatte. Apropos, gibts dafür ne eine Emfehlung?

Im Übrigen, die gute Platte ist 4-5 Jahre alt. Hab hier noch eine 11-12 Jahre alte und die läuft immernoch sauber.

Würd mich wundern wenn nicht, das ist ja auch auch der Typ des Eintrags. Pre-fail bedeutet, dass bei Überschreitung des Grenzwertes mit einem Versagen der Platte zu rechnen ist. Old_age ist einfach nur ein Zähler, was die Platte schon alles durchgemacht hat.

Eine grobe Einschätzung, ob die Platte noch zuverlässig arbeitet gibt:

Den RAW Werten braucht man normal nicht allzu viel Beachtung schenken, da man eh nicht weiß, was sich der Hersteller dabei gedacht hat. Aber Werte von fast ner Billion können nichts gutes heißen. Ansonsten sollten VALUE und WORST ein ganzes Stück von THRESH entfernt sein.

SMART sagt dir nicht ob eine Festplatte kaputt ist, sondern ob sie kaputt gehen könnte. Entscheiden musst du selbst.

Jetzt weiß ich wenigstens das die smarttools für mich keine verlässiche Aussage ist dass die Festplatte demnächst kaputtgeht.

Nachtrag:
Von Seagate gibt es die Seatools als Dos Version CD Image.
Damit gebootet und einen kurzen Test durchgeführt. Das Ergebnis:

Festplattenselbsttest ohne Fehler abgeschlossen.

Kurzen Festplattentest bestanden.

Noch 'n Nachtrag:

Es gibt sogar eine Linux Commandline Version.

Ich setze dieses Thema mal als gelöst.

Ich Hardware ersetzt, ausser die Grafikkarte, welche auf Grund ihres defekten Speichers die Abstürze verursacht hat. Hätte ich den PC mal eher in den Laden meines Vertrauens gebracht, hätte ich mir knapp 400 € sparen können 🙂

Als nächstes steht dann mal die Installation meines neuen 64-Bit Arch an 🙂
