(gnome-session:3075): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0

Hi! habe mir in der letzten Nacht archlinux installiert und danach sämtliche GUis probiert aber keine zum laufen bekommen. Openbox klappte nicht, was aber wahrscheinlich am slim lag. Kann ich openbox auch ohne slim betreiben? Oder enlightenment. denn das wären meine favoriten (->ressourcenschonend) hatte dann aber die Schnauze voll und habs mit Kde probiert. ging auch nicht und bin nun bei Gnome hängen geblieben. aber dort bekomme ich nach der eingabe von

gnome-session

(gnome-session:3075): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0

als ausgabe.

wer kann mir sagen, wie ich das Problem behebe?

Ähnliches passiert hier auch, hab auf nem anderen Laptop auch wie bei mir LXDE installiert und da kommt ne ähnliche Meldung, halt dass Display 0 nicht gefunden wurde. Hab jetzt auch mal für ne Weile die Lust verloren, da noch weiter zu machen, aber ich könnte für Tests zur Verfügung stehn 😉 Ach ja, ich starte X mittels startx (diese automatisierte Variante mittels inittab)

So, ich nochmal

Ich habs hier glaub ich gelöst. In der xorg.conf stand nach X -configure ein BusID "PCI:1:0:0" in der Section "Device" drinne. Hab jetzt mal nvidia-xconfig drüber sausen lassen (sollte man wohl tun 😉 ) und diese Zeile is da jetzt weg. Vielleicht ist es ja bei dir was ähnliches / dasselbe

edit: ok, gelogen, is noch immer so 🙁 Das Ding is, es läuft ne Weile und dann kann ich keine Anwendung mehr starten, überhaupt nix, nichtmal graphisch neu starten kann ich 🙁

trallalla ... ich lass das obige jetzt mal stehn, weil ich hab festgestellt, dass es hier an der /etc/hosts lag, hatte da nen kleinen Fehler drinne. Also phoenix, schau dir die vielleicht mal an 😉

in meiner /etc/hosts steht lediglich meine loopback und mein hostname inkl domain

Dann mach mal ein

pacman -S xorg

danach ein

X -configure

etc und schau dir bitte auch das Wiki an! Da sollte alles stehen, was du brauchst, um das erste Mal Arch zu installieren 🙂 Wenn was nicht klappt, hier melden, wir beißen nicht und helfen gern 😉

okay...werde ich mal probieren...das wiki habe ich audgiebig genutzt...aber da stand halt nur das installieren und so drin und das habe ich gemacht 😉 von alleine wäre ich da nicht drauf gekommen 😉 habe noch nicht alzuviel plan von dieser wunderbaren Materie.

Hallo,

ich will auch grad mal den Umstieg auf Arch testen und so mal etwas über Linux zu lernen.

Hatte mir die Installationsanleitung ausgedruckt und soweit incl. der gnome-Installation durch.
NVidia installiert. X installiert und via hwd konfigurieren lassen und der X-Server lässt sich auch starten.

mit dem Aufruf von gnome-session bekomme ich aber ebenfalls die Meldung:

(gnome-session:3075): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display

Du musst meines Wissens nach entweder "exec gnome-session" in die .xinitrc schreiben oder einen Display Manager wie gdm, xdm oder slim verwenden! gnome-session startet nicht den X Server.

Dank Dir Giovanni ... via GDM gings dann prima 🙂
mal davon abgesheen, dass ich es via GDM mache, die .xinitrc hab ich nirgend finden können. Sollte ja eigentlich eine versteckte im Homeordner sein ... anyway ... es ist bunt <sunny>

ich habe das gleiche Problem:

(gnome-session:1190): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supoorted by C library
Warning **: cannot open display

Habe gnome nach archlinux-Wiki installiert.
danach habe ich xorg, den mg-Treiber und gdm installiert.

Brachte leider keine Besserung. Hat einer ne Idee?

--> line 6 sollte "screen 0" sein....

In deinem letzten Post stand da etwas von "Missing EndSection keyword?"

Könntest du bitte Teile von configs in code-Tags schreiben, ist sonst nicht lesbar.

Also <code> dann eine neue Zeile, dann dein Text, dann neue Zeile </ code> ohne das Leerzeichen.

Also momentan fehlt mir irgendwie ein Anhaltspunkt.

In deiner Xorg.0.log steht, es fehlt in der Section-Device das "EndSection" und in deiner xorg.conf steht es aber drin.

Ist das die ganze xorg.conf oder hast du noch mehr ?
