Rechner friert immer wieder ein

Hallo alle zusammen,
ich nutze jetzt seit kurzem wieder Arch auf meinem Heimrechner, hatte aber immer wieder das selbe Problem: In völlig zufälligen Abständen (manchmal direkt nachdem der X-Server startet, manchmal erst nach 5 Stunden) friert mein Bild ein; ich kann weder mit Strg+Alt+Fx in die Konsole wechseln, noch die Maus bewegen. Es passiert ausschließlich wenn der X-Server gestartet ist. An Grafiktreibern habe ich alle in Frage kommenden ausprobiert, dadurch aber keine Lösung gefunden (momentan wieder nouveau). Hatte das Problem vorher schon und bin dann zwischenzeitlich mal auf Manjaro umgestiegen, weil es mich mit der Zeit echt tierisch genervt hat und ich einfach nicht herausfinden konnte was los war (hatte mit Manjaro keinen einzigen Freeze).

Was ist denn das für ein Kernel? 4.3 befindet sich zur Zeit noch in testing, ist der Rest des Systems auch auf dem Versionsstand von testing? Was ist mit dem Kernel 4.2.5-1 oder dem LTS-Kernel? Friert der Rechner damit auch noch ein?

Hatte vorher den Kernel 4.2 und auch ständig diese Freezes. Bin auf 4.3 rauf, weil ich von einem ähnlichen Problem gelesen habe, der auch mit dem 4.2 seine Schwierigkeiten hatte und die damit wohl gelöst hat. Habe das nur noch nicht rückgängig gemacht.

Der LTS-Kernel ist jetzt installiert. Ich werd den einfach mal 24 Stunden ausprobieren.

Hast du eine Bluetooth-Maus oder Keyboard? Hatte mit dem Kernel 4.1 die Probleme, dass mein Laptop nach einem disconnect eingefroren ist.

Nein, eine ganz normale PS2 Tastatur und eine USB-Maus mit Kabel. Habe gerade eben versucht einen zweiten Monitor anzuschließen und hatte 3 Abstürze bei der Änderung der Auflösung mit dem entsprechenden KDE-Tool.

Hatte diesen Monitor zuvor aber schon mehrfach in Verwendung und alles lief wunderbar (außer den üblichen Abstürzen).
intel-ucode ist wie schon gesagt installiert und wird auch geladen. Bis ich den zweiten Monitor angeschlossen habe funktionierte auch alles einwandfrei - also eine gute Stunde.

Ich werde jetzt mal weiter mit einem Monitor testen. Ich halte euch auf dem laufenden.

Der Treiber nvidia-340xx in Kombination mit nvidia-340xx-libgl sollte passen (siehe hier). nouveau ist ein Universaltreiber, und diese Karte scheint doch sehr speziell…

Also ich habe xf86-video-nouveau und nouveau-dri entfernt und den Moduleintrag in der mkinitcipio.conf gelöscht. Dann hab ich nvidia-340xx und nvidia-340xx-libgl installiert und neu gestartet. Ohne xorg.conf startet der X-Server wunderbar (allerdings ohne Hardwarebeschnleunigung - oh Wunder). Habe dann nvidia-xconfig ausgeführt. Wenn ich dann startx versuche, steht da nur "Module nvidia not found.".

Wenn ich nvidia installieren will, will er es logischerweise mit nvidia-340xx ersetzen. Naja ich bin gerade relativ ratlos. Hab ich vielleicht irgendwas vergessen?

Ja ok, mein Fehler. Hab das fett gedruckte glatt überlesen.

So. Also ich hab die xorg.conf wieder gelöscht. Wie bereits erwähnt klappte startx einwandfrei. Hab dann einfach mal mit lsmod nachgesehen, ob nouveau tatsächlich runter ist. Das war leider nicht der Fall. Ich hab es geblacklistet, aus der mkinitcipio.conf rausgenommen, "mkinitcipio -p linux-lts" und "syslinux-install_update-iam" ausgeführt und neu gestartet. nouveau wird jetzt nicht mehr geladen. Allerdings startet der XServer jetzt gar nicht mehr.

Wenn Du linux-lts verwendest, musst Du auch nvidia-340xx-lts verwenden. Überlege doch bitte vorher, was Du machst, und frage im Zweifel nochmal nach. Mit pacman -Ss nvidia kannst Du einen Überblick über die verfügbaren Pakete gewinnen.

Hört sich erstmal gut an. Im Übrigen bin ich mir auch nicht mehr so sicher, ob die Karte tatsächlich – wie oben von mir suggeriert – ein Problem darstellt. Misstrauisch bin ich geworden, als Du nouveau-dri erwähnt hast; das Paket gibbet nämmich nicht mehr. Könnte also sein, dass nouveau unter egal welchem Kernel genauso seinen Zweck erfüllt; falls Hardware-Beschleunigung wichtig ist, kann AUR:nouveau-fw weiterhelfen. Bei einem solchen Setup (nouveau auf Geforce 9500 GS) treten bei mir mit rootless X und kwin mit aktiviertem Compositor auch Fehler auf; typischerweise nach Resume. Entweder kein Netzwerk mehr, dann helfe ich mir mit Abmeldung und Neustart X; oder Freezes im Lockscreen und in der GUI, dann warte ich etwa 5 Minuten, bis der Prozess plasmashell sich wieder validiert hat (gemäß dmesg|tail). Man muss Geduld haben…

Okay habe das ganze jetzt ausgiebig getestet. Bisher kein einziger Freeze mehr. Das Problem scheint also gelöst.
