Vollverschluesselung LUKS via dm-crypt , System bootet nicht

Hi,
ich habe mich hierzu an
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dm-crypt/Encrypting_an_entire_system gehalten und speziell an das Simple partition layout with LUKS.

So bin ich vorgegangen:

//sda1 for boot, +bootflag, 300MB,type linux
//sda2 for root, rest, type linux

# cryptsetup -y -v luksFormat /dev/sda2
# cryptsetup open /dev/sda2 cryptroot
# mkfs -t ext4 /dev/mapper/cryptroot
# mount -t ext4 /dev/mapper/cryptroot /mnt

# mkfs -t ext4 /dev/sda1
# mkdir /mnt/boot
# mount -t ext4 /dev/sda1 /mnt/boot

# pacstrap /mnt base
# genfstab -p /mnt >> /mnt/etc/fstab
# arch-chroot /mnt
# ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Berlin /etc/localtime

// ANPASSUNGEN:
// etc/mkinitcpio.conf
// HOOKS="... encrypt ... filesystems ..."

# mkinitcpio -p linux

# pacman -S syslinux
# syslinux-install_update -i -a -m

# vi /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg
...
LABEL arch
        ...
        APPEND cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:cryptroot    // (root=/dev/sda3 rw I removed this)
       
#passwd
#reboot

Ich vermute das die APPEND Zeile falsch ist. Nur wie lautet sie richtig? So haengt sich alles beim booten natuerlich weg.

mit root=/dev/mapper/cryptroot erhalte ich die Meldung:

ERROR: Failed to open encryption mapping: the device /dev/sda2 is not a LUKS Volume and the crypto= parameter was not specified.
ERROR: device /dev/mapper/cryptroot not found. 
Unable to find the root device /dev/mapper/cryptroot

Wenn ich noch zudem crypt=:::: anfuege, erhalte ich nur die Meldung: Non-LUKS encrypted device found.
Jedoch werde ich dann Aufgefordert:

A Password is required to access the cryptroot volume:
Enter passphrase:
Verify passphrase:

Error: The superblock /dev/mapper/cryptroot could not be read or does not describe a correct ext4 filesystem.

Ich glaube No'op meinte, dass es in etwa so:

APPEND cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:cryptroot root=/dev/mapper/cryptroot rw

aussehen sollte.
Ausserdem ist es sinnvoller UUID oder Labels zu verwenden.

Die Zeile fängt nicht mit APPEND an – was das Wiki meint, ist, dass du an deine vorhandene Kernel-Zeile "cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:cryptroot root=/dev/mapper/cryptroot rw" anfügen sollst.

Komisch, in meiner /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg fängt die Zeile mit APPEND an und es funktioniert seit langem sehr gut.
Er hat aber in seiner mkinitcpio.conf nicht lvm2 in die HOOKS eingetragen, oder steht das da von Natur aus schon drin?

Wenn ich aktuell die Bootzeile editiere steht da per Default:

 .linux ../vmlinuz-linux cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:cryptroot initrd=../initramfs-linux.img

mit Eurer empfohlenen anpassung also:

 .linux ../vmlinuz-linux cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:cryptroot root=/dev/mapper/cryptroot rw initrd=../initramfs-linux.img

Beim booten fuehrt das wieder zur Fehlermeldung:

Error: Failed to open encryption mapping: Device /dev/sda2 is not a LUKS volume and crypto= was not specified

Und jetzt steigen wir noch auf UUIDs um, damit die HDD-Nummerierung uns nicht den Boot verhaut. 🙂

der Fehler war wirklich die mkinitcpio.conf wo ich die HOOKS ohne LVM2 gelassen habe. Ich dachte wirklich das die von Haus aus mit drin sind. Nun gut wieder was gelernt.
Also richtig ist es wie folgt: [block ... encrypt ... lvm2 ... filesystems]. Dann funkzt auch das booten ^^.

So ich bedanke mich freundlich bei allen die mitgeholfen haben.

Wo hast du deine Glaskugel gestreichelt um herauszufinden das TE LVM nutzt?
