X startet nur als root

Hallo miteinander,

ich bin der Anleitung "Archlinux und mehr gefolgt" und kann X nur als root starten.
Der Benutzer ist in der Gruppe video und es existiert auch keine xorg.conf

Wo könnte der Fehler sein? Die fehlenden Schriftarten sollten doch nicht das Problem sein, oder?

Die fehlenden Schriftarten werden nicht das Problem sein. (deswegen steht davor auch (WW) -> Warnung) Du musst eher nach Fehlermeldungen (EE) ausschauhalten. Für mich sieht das so aus, als wenn du zuwenig aus dem Logfile gepostet hast.

Was ist denn die ausgabe wenn du als User einfach "startx" in der Konsole eingibst?

Wenn ich X als Benutzer starte erhalte ich u.a. folgende Meldung:

/usr/bin/startx: Zeile 127: hostname: Kommando nicht gefunden.

Die /etc/hosts existiert:

Vielleicht ist mit hostname eher der hostname in /etc/rc.conf gemeint. Würde ich mal ausprobieren. Sonst mal in das Script /usr/bin/startx reingucken was da in Zeile 127 steht.

Mit hostname ist denke ich eher das Programm /bin/hostname gemeint da die Meldung ja "Kommando nicht gefunden." lautet. Hast du das Paket net-tools installiert? Denn da drinnen ist hostname das vom startx Script in Zeile 127 aufgerufen wird:

Du brauchst das Paket net-tools, darin ist das Tool hostname enthalten.

Achtung, hostname wird grade schon wieder zwischen den Pakete verschoben! In [testing] befindet sich hostname wieder in inetutils, was sich jetzt auch in der base-Gruppe befindet.

Also in der /etc/rc.conf ist der hostname enthalten:

HOSTNAME="SysT1"

Das Paket net-tools war nicht installiert. Ich habe es installiert und die Meldung "/usr/bin/startx: Zeile 127: hostname: Kommando nicht gefunden. " ist nun weg.

Leider funktioniert es immer noch nicht. Nach dem Abbruch startx folgen noch ca. 20 Zeilen an Meldungen.
Kann ich die Konsolenausgabe von startx irgendwie in eine Datei umlenken?

Edit: Habe es herausgefunden:

Interessanter (weil wohl kompletter) wäre wohl die /var/log/Xorg.0.log nach dem startx vom Normaluser.
Da es als root ja grundsätzlich funktioniert liegt ein Rechteproblem nahe:
a) Dein User ist in der Gruppe video?
b) Als root mal alle Dateien im $HOME des users diesem übereignen. Oftmals macht man als User einafch nur "su", startet als root X und wudert sich dann warum nix mehr geht:
chown -R deinusername.users /home/deinusername

Merke: su *niemals* gedankenloas nur mit "su" verwenden ;-)
Immer mit "su -", oder halt root auf einem Terminal komplett neu einloggen...

Erklärung zur Ursache: su "behält" im Gegensatz zu "su -" einige Teile des Environments des Users, u.a. auch das aktuelle$HOME.
startx als root erzeugt nun die /home/eigentlicheruser/.Xauthority neu, aber mit der Eigentümerschaft root.root. Wenn der User nun das nächstemal startx ausführt hat er keine (Schreib/Lese)-Beechtigung auf diese Datei. Genauso kann es mit anderen Files ergehen die z.B. beim ge'su'ten Start als root erzeugt werden.
