Kein Ton: ALSA auf Lenovo ThinkPad SL500

Hallo Leute,

schon zum zweiten Mal bin ich beim Versuch, ArchLinux zu installieren, am Sound gescheitert 🙁

Ich habe mich an

Laut

sollte Linux auf dieser Kiste (einschließlich Sound) kein Problem sein und in

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/CX20561

steht, daß der aktuelle Kernel die Hardware unterstützt. Das ArchLinux ist "ganz frisch" installiert/aktualisiert.

Nun zum Problem:

Alles sieht zwar lt. den o.g. Wiki-Seiten ganz gut aus (wenn man es auch natürlich wegen der Unterschiede in der konkreten Hardware nicht 1:1 nachprüfen kann), jedoch führt der Versuch, Sound abzuspielen

("aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav" aus https://wiki.archlinux.de/title/Alsa#Soundkan.C3.A4le_aktivieren_und_Soundkarte_testen)

zu der ebenso rätselhaften wie sprachlich seltsamen Meldung:

"aplay: set_params:1059: Channels count non available" und natürlich: Stille aus den Lautsprechern! 🙁

Alles, was ich an Hinweisen hierzu im Netz gefunden habe, ist probiert und durchgefallen. Ich muß gestehen, daß die ganze Problematik "Sound/ALSA" mit den ganzen Modulen und Konfigurationen äußerst undurchsichtig erscheint. Auch viele Kleinigkeiten aus der Dokumentation erweisen sich in der Praxis als widersprüchlich und seltsam. Ein Beispiel:

steht, daß man den Codec, den man in /proc/asound/card0/codec#x findet, (bei mir CX20561 was durch http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/CX20561 bestätigt wird), in /usr/src/KERNEL_VERSION/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt suchen soll. Aber dort gibt es nur CONEXANT 50XX und kein 20561???

Jedenfalls bin ich ziemlich ratlos und freue mich über jede Hilfe.

Klar doch! Solange noch nichts zu hören ist, habe ich erst einmal alles als root gemacht. (Habe auch brav meinen Normal-User-Account der Gruppe audio zugeordnet, für später.)

Die Ausgaben von alsaconfig sehen auch vernünftig aus und es klingt nach "erfolgreich".

In diesem Zusammenhang noch ein "komisches" Detail: alsaconfig behauptet immer in seinem ersten Dialogfenster, das alsa schon/noch laufen würde und es versuchen könnte, es vorher zu beenden. Interessanterweise wird das auch behauptet, wenn man vorher /etc/rc.d/alsa stop ausgeführt hat.

mmh, komisch. Hab auch ein SL500 und bei mir funktioniert das einfach so.

Du könntest noch schauen, ob du mehrere Karten hast:
also
cat /proc/asound/cards
oder
aplay -l und aplay -L

Evtl. ist das HDMI-Device Standard.

Versuch mal eine Datei abzuspielen, die nicht mono ist
(stand im Internet)

Hab' leider auf der Standardinstallation nur die WAVs unter /usr/share/sound/alsa/ , scheint keine Stereo-Datei dabei zu sein. NOISE.WAV hab ich probiert, geht auch nicht. Versuche es später nochmal.

Ein echtes Foto hätte ich, weiß aber nicht, wie man das hier hineinbekommt.

Aber wenn Du meinst, ob ich kontrolliert habe, daß MUTE aus und ein Mindestpegel eingestellt ist - da kann ich Dich beruhigen.

Habe mal einen CD-track als *.wav und eine Datei von Windows testweise abgespielt und alles scheint wieder in Ordnung, d.h. man kann was hören.

Dumm nur, daß man als Anfänger durch

auf eine falsche Fährte gelockt wird. Das Beispiel mit aplay, was da steht ist also schlichtweg falsch!

Übrigens: Ebenso stimmt es nicht, daß asound.state unter /etc stehen soll, das Start-/Stop-Skript /etc/rc.d/alsa sucht irgendwo unter /var...
