Energie sparen bis zum Limit

Hallo zusammen,

ich bin gerade dabei mein EliteBook 2730p ein wenig auf Genügsamkeit zu trimmen. Dabei nehme ich die 6,5W von Windows als Maßstab. Leider habe ich schon alles mögliche hin und her probiert und komme trotz dem nicht mal mehr ansatzweise in diese Regionen (die sich in der Praxis auch wirklich bestätigt haben). Unter ARCH sind es immer wieder etwa 8W. Dabei sind alle denkbaren und undenkbaren Module entladen, es läuft fast nichts mehr in Hintergrund und die Displayhelligkeit ist auf Minimum. Powertop zeigt im Schnitt nur noch 2,3 wakeups. Es läuft nur noch fluxbox (und eben der xorg). Ich habe vor allem nach folgenden Anleitungen gearbeitet:

Spontan fallen mir da laptop-mode-tools und nen Kernel mit PHC-Patch ein. Aber es gibt im Gegensatz zu mir hier Leute die sich wirklich damit auskennen.

Dann kannst du noch mit den laptop-mode-tools automatisch Daemons und Module entladen (http://www.lost-byte.de/laptopmode.php).

auch bei der Graka kann man oftmals was schrauben, vor allem mit den offiziellen Treibern.

Prozessor undervolten würde in diesem Fall hier kaum etwas bringen. Das ist schon einer der Ultra Low Voltage-Prozessoren von Intel, da geht kaum noch etwas nach unten. Die Teile werden bei noch tieferer Spannung und verringertem Clock leider (in meinem Falle) relativ schnell instabil. Der Grafikchip kommt auch von Intel (GS4500), da habe ich nichts auftreiben können, wie man den zum sparen zwingen kann. Lesswatts.org habe ich schon von oben bis unten durch. 🙂

Ich bin mal so frech und grabe den alten Thread aus! 😛

Ich habe mir ein gebrauchtes T500 gekauft und Arch aufgesetzt. Der neue Akku, der dabei war (6-Zellen; leider kein Original aber zumindest in ungeöffneter Verpackung) hielt beim ersten Test gerade mal 40min. Also Wiki und Forum durchforstet und sämtliche Energiespartipps befolgt.
Mittlerweile bin ich von ca. 34W auf 20W im Leerlauf, was mir aber immer noch sehr viel vorkommt! TLP ist installiert.
lt. Powertop ist der Hauptverbraucher der Lüfter?! Würde hier gerne die html-Ausgabe von powertop anhängen, ich weiß nur leider nicht wie...
Hat vielleicht schon jemand ähnliche Probleme mit der Energieverwaltung oder dem T500 lösen können?

Dann hätt ich noch ne Frage.
Und zwar zeigt mir lspci | grep VGA 2 Grafikkarten an.

Wie sehe ich, welche Grafikkarte aktiv ist? Da ich den Laptop hauptsächlich fürs Internet und ein wenig Office benötige lege ich keinen großen Wert auf Grafikleistung. Ich denke mal dass die Intel weniger Strom braucht und würde diese gerne bevorzugt nutzen, wenn dies möglich ist.

Solltet ihr weitere Ausgaben oder Infos brauchen, reich ich diese selbstverständlich gerne nach!

Habe gestern noch im BIOS die Einstellungen durchgesehen und die ATI deaktiviert.
Powerstat wirft nun das aus:

So wies aussieht dürfte die ATI die meiste Hitze produziert haben. Momentan läuft der Laptop seit ca. 15min ohne Lüfter und die CPU-Temp liegt bei ca. 39°C!
Der Anzeige von powertop dürfte aber bzgl. Lüfter nicht ganz zu trauen sein, da ich gestern 19W Lüfterverbrauch hatte, aber eine Akkuentladung von ca. 13W...

Ich hoffe mit der SSD die diese Woche noch in der Post sein sollte komm ich noch ein wenig weiter runter...

SSD ist eingebaut und Arch umgezogen, was erschreckend einfach war!

Allerdings ist der Energiebedarf jetzt wider erwarten gestiegen statt gesunken!

Du hast sonst nichts veraendert? Seltsam. Hat sich dein BIOS vielleicht zurueckgesetzt?

Du nimmst die Leistungswerte aus PowerTOP viel zu genau. Das sind nur geschätzte Werte, die werden nicht alle einzeln gemessen. Gemessen werden kann nur die Gesamtleistung des Systems. Für eine halbwegs brauchbare Aufteilung dieser Leistung muss PowerTOP erst kalibriert werden (powertop --calibrate), was einige Zeit dauert.

Hab das BIOS nochmal kontrolliert --> alles OK.
powertop --calibrate hab ich mal durchrennen lassen.

Die Einzelwerte in powertop haben sich ein wenig verändert. Die Entladung ist aber gleich geblieben und liegt bei laufendem Lüfter auf ca. 17,5W.
Dass ich nicht auf 5W runterkomm war mir schon klar, aber zumindest annähernd 10W wären schon ein Erfolg...

Bin wieder etwas weitergekommen. Nachdem in letzter Zeit der Lüfter permanent an war und die Temperaturen auch irgendwie hoch, hab ich nochmals das BIOS kontrolliert und die Switchabe-Option der Grafikkarten deaktiviert. Jetzt wird auch nur mehr die Intel-Graka erkannt und die Temperaturen sind wieder niedrig (sämtliche Sensoren melden unter 40°C).
