Du kannst den Medientyp entweder über Moduloptionen festlegen:
rmmod 3c59x
modprobe 3c59x options=3
Das setzt den Typ auf 10base2. Dauerhaft kannst du diese Option in der /etc/modprobe.conf eintragen.
Ein weitere Weg wäre über das Tool ethtool (aus extra):
ethtool port bnc eth0
Wobei das nicht funktionieren muß und der Weg über Moduloptionen sicher der bessere ist.
